Band

Band for students who are in their 2nd or 3rd year of band started Wednesday, October 4th, with newly hired band director Chris Uminiski. Mr. Uminski has a music performance degree as well as having previously volunteered with the Briggs band program. Concert Band is during the day on Wednesday from 1:20-2:00. 

On October 11th, students saw a demonstration of band instruments.  Any interested 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade student is invited to sign up for "First Year Band".  First Year Band will be during the school day on Wednesdays from 2:00-2:45 for first-year students.  For first-year students, we are offering clarinet, flute, percussion (snare/bell kit), and trumpet.  If students continue with band for the second year, they can stay with one of these instruments or switch to trombone or saxophone.  If a student feels like he/she is interested in switching to trombone in the second year, he/she should start on trumpet this year.  If a student feels like he/she is interested in switching to saxophone in the second year, he/she should start on clarinet this year. 

Attached please find a flyer from "French Music Company"  on how to sign up to get a new band instrument through their company.  This company works with the district to provide instrument rental/purchase plans as well as instrument repairs.   Students are also welcome to start first year band with an instrument that they have rented or purchased from another location. French's offers an online ordering as well as a phone number to call. 

You will receive information from our new band director, Chris Uminski, about your student's first day of band once the instrument sign-ups have been completed. Please know that Mr. Uminski is only in the buildings on Wednesdays, so email may be the best way to reach him.

Chorus

Music educator Mindy Lorden will be offering chorus before school on Mondays from 7:30-8:20 am, starting 9/25/17. Please complete the registration form (below) if your child would like to participate. There is no cost/fee to participate.
